Book Highlight: A Biblical Theology of Youth Ministry

I wrote A Biblical Theology of Youth Ministry to present a biblical, historical, and theological foundation for youth ministry. Most youth workers have heard someone say, “I don’t see youth ministry in the Bible. Is it even biblical?” Some ask the question with genuine curiosity. Others ask it with an accusing finger pointed in our direction. As this question was being asked with increasing frequency, I grew frustrated that I couldn’t find any good resources that simply point to Scripture as the answer.

Here’s a quick snapshot of the book, shown through the Table of Contents.

  1. The Landscape of Modern Youth Ministry

  2. The Old Testament and Youth Ministry

  3. The New Testament and Youth Ministry

  4. Church History and Youth Ministry

  5. Ecclesiology and Youth Ministry

  6. The Family and Youth Ministry

  7. The Gospel and Youth Ministry

  8. Youth Ministry as a Bridge Between the Church and Home

  9. Epilogue: The Bare Minimums of a Biblical Youth Ministry

The overall conclusion of the book is this: Youth ministry is for adolescence, the family is for life, the church is for eternity - may we lead our ministry to students accordingly.
